Do you like to go straight to the heart of things? Meet people, share, understand, be surprised? Do you love nature and the magic of the changing seasons? Dairy farmers, cheese makers and ripeners of the Massif Jurassien and all those who are enthusiastic about their noble terroir welcome you to the Routes du Comté!
Cheese museums and gourmet stops
The Routes du Comté, since 2001, have provided an original network that is based on the strong links that join together the Comté and the tourist industry in the Jura Mountains (a zone stretching across the departments of Ain, Doubs and Jura). Primarily, it brings together farms, fruiterers and cheese ripening cellars that can be visited, but also « cheese museums », as well as « gourmet stops », including great places to buy regional products and a variety of places to eat…
And if further proof were needed that the Comté is well and truly anchored in its region of origin, the Routes du Comté also bring together a wide range of farm-stay accommodation sites to ensure that your holidays in Pays du Comté are a success!
Cheeses and wines
Needless to say, your taste buds will be in heaven as you are invited to the permanent festival that is put on by this region’s gastronomy, which is constantly evolving: this region alone has no less than six cheeses listed under quality control labels (Comté, Morbier, Montd’Or, Bleu de Gex, Emmental Grand Cru and Gruyère) and fifteen AOC wines (Arbois, Château-Chalon, L’Etoile, Côtes du Jura, Macvin, Crémant du Jura and the 9 appellations of Bugey, in the Ain).
You might already have guessed that the Routes du Comté offers a whole gamut of emotions, sensations to be explored through walks and meetings. All of this makes the land of the Jura Mountains a fabulously rich natural environment, filled with culture and human achievement.
A territory with a strong identity, this Natural Park is made up of varied natural areas.
A land of history and of discovery, blessed with a rich heritage.
